  1. I am simply loving this take on the Dracula story. It has several seemingly overt homages to Dark Shadows and this episode continues this. The use of a serum to make it possible for Dracula to appear in the daytime along with how Dracula “cures” himself of his burns caused by being in the sun just a little too long reminded me of Julia Hoffman’s attempts to cure Barnabas and also the scene where Barnabas bites Carolyn to cure himself of Julia’s serum overdose.

Dracula and Barnabas share the same agony of having their lost loves reincarnated but unable to remember (so far) who they once were. I also see Van Helsing very strongly in the Julia Hoffman role as someone who uses science to overcome the supernatural. In fact, he is very much what a Julian Hoffman might have been like had not the famous typo occured and Grayson Hall was cast in the role of Julia instead.
