As reported by TMZ, Different Strokes star Conrad Bain has passed away at the age of 89. Says the site, “Bain family sources tell TMZ, Bain died Monday night at a retirement home in Livermore, CA from natural causes. We spoke with Bain’s daughter Jennifer who tells us, ‘He was an amazing person. He was a lot like Mr. Drummond, but much more interesting in real life. He was an amazing father.’ Bain — who became a household name starring opposite Gary Coleman and Todd Bridges on the iconic 80s series — is survived by his three sons and one daughter. He also has a surviving twin brother Bonar Bain.” Dark Shadows fans, of course, remember him as Mr. Wells at the Collinwood Inn, a role he played in three 1966 episodes and one in 1968. Who can forget him meeting Barnabas and coining the phrase, “What’cha talkin’ about Barnabas?”, which he he would pass on to his son, Gary Coleman…. You don’t remember that? Okay. neither do we, actually, but it seemed humorous as the words were being written.
Rest in peace, Mr. Bain.
