2ND UPDATE: Our Dark Shadows book is happening, and it will be the first in a planned series celebrating all things Dark Shadows. Volume 1 will be titled Generation DS: A Tribute to Dark Shadows, Jonathan Frid & Barnabas Collins. It will consist of interviews, articles and the memories of fans.
Given the unfortunate passing of Jonathan, the decision was made to make the focus of this first volume fairly specific. So we’re looking for remembrances and articles/essays about either Jonathan or the character of Barnabas Collins in all of his incarnations. How did Jonathan and his portrayal of Barnabas touch you? Did you ever meet him or see him at a DS Festival? Perhaps you had an encounter outside the ABC studios during the show’s original run. Whatever it may be, we’re interested in hearing from you. And, of course, if you have photographs you’ve taken, we’d love to use them and we’d like to put the call out for fan art as well.
One thing that’s become apparent from the various comments sections on this site is the passion that fans of Dark Shadows have for the show. As some of you may know, back in the ’80s and ’90s I wrote a number of books on the subject. Now I’m pulling together new ones which would be a collection of essays, or extended comments, featuring the memories of fans regarding the show, why they love it, what appealed to them, encounters with the stars, convention memories…or anything else that connects them to the show or the films. It could include essays about some aspect of Dark Shadows as well. These books will be offered digitally and through small press distribution.
So, is there anyone out there who would want to contribute to these books with memories and, if possible, photos? Please let me know as soon as you can.
