The vision for Blog of Dark Shadows is not only to provide news on the different incarnations of DS, but to discuss them as well. At the moment this is very much a one-man operation, so I’d like to put the call out to any of you who might be interested in covering some aspect of Dark Shadows to let me know. Your contribution can be in the form of analytical essays, character discussions, reviews, reporting of DS coverage from around the web, news of what cast members are doing, fan productions, etc. There’s also a new section starting up called “Spawn of Dark Shadows,” which will cover shows that carry on the Dark Shadows tradition, such as The Vampire Diaries, True Blood, and American Horror Story. Two main criteria is that you be able to write (seems obvious, but it’s something that needs to be said) and that any pieces not just be along the lines of “Tim Burton sucks!” If any of you are interested, please do let me know as I’d very much like to include other voices here. — Ed Gross

Well I would just like to say that i have a connection to the old DS, my cousin Joan Bennett played Elisabeth Collins on the show. I never met her but I have always loved vampires, so I guess I know where I got that from.

Joan Bennett was your cousin? How cool is that?!

Kris, if you ever had the desire, it might be interesting to speak to other family members who DID know her. Perhaps they’d have some sort of memories of the Dark Shadows days from Joan Bennett’s point of view that they should share and you, in turn, could share with us. Just a thought.

Agreed. They could share some interesting insights & trivia. But it’s up to you, KR. Thanks for mentioning it, either way.

Aw shucks!! I was wanting to write a whole essay on the many ways Tim Burton sucks! HAHA!!
Seriously, I would be interested in contributing.
My writing style (and attitude) in posts is different than it would be in a feature. Also, I’m a designer, so I could help in that area too…if needed.

I’ve actually been hoping someone would suggest “guest” blogging so I can finally post my musings on the series, revival and new film. My “hot button” topics are the mystery of Victoria Winters in the original series and my thoughts on her past and ultimate fate – calling Ms. Isles: Big Finish Wants You!
I’m also incredibly drawn to the Laura Collins character and her relationship to the family throughout the various eras – I also think Diana Millay would make a wonderful addition to the Audio Series!

I’d like to read those musings, Aric…:-) The topic of Victoria Winters seems like fertile ground for discussion and conjecture!

I’d like to try my hand at a guest post for the “Spawn of Dark Shadows” section. I’m not seeing your email listed so I’m not sure how to contact you.

I would really love to write for your blog. I have always loved Dark Shadows in all of its incarnations and I am also very knowledgeable in not just the many different themes of the show but with the Gothic genre in general. I may not have perfect writing skill but I know that I can certainly fill the requirements listed here. If you would like to get in touch I would greatly appreciate it.

I have been fascinated by the architecture of Dark Shadows in its various incarnations since I was a kid, particularly considering how anachronistic most of it is. For example, Seaview Terrace (the original TV Collinwood) was built in the 1920s and would have been utterly impossible to build anywhere in North America in the 1790s. Would anyone be interested in some reflections on this? I received my Masters in Architectural History from Columbia University in 1988, so I have more than just a passing interest in this subject; but this would include more personal reflections on how Dark Shadows help kindle my historical imagination, not just scholarly essays on the set design and locations used in Dark Shadows.

I am interested. How do I contact you. I lived in NY a few years and became good friends with Sam Hall. He would invite me to his wonderful home on the Hudson. Wow, you should see the gorgeous portrait of Grayson in his living room.
Check out my website… iconservation.net
And get in touch please. I have been a life long admirer and student of Dark Shadows. I used to drive Sam crazy with all the questions. LOL, but he loved it.
