Dark Shadows: Two New Shots of Johnny Depp as Barnabas Collins

It seems that almost every day is now bringing with it new imagery from Tim Burton’s Dark Shadows, and that includes these two new shots of actor Johnny Depp as vampire Barnabas Collins. As troubling as the discussion of humor in the film may be to some, one of the most intriguing aspects of it will likely be the “fish out of water” element that Depp will undoubtedly play as the resurrected Barnabas.

  1. Looks good! The makeup works well with that lighting…the most recent pics look great in my opinion…

  2. These are beautiful photographs of JD as Barnabas. I think that they have gotten the 18th century look of the character just right. I’m assuming that the “seahorse” represents the Collins’ affiliation with the shipping/canning industries. It certainly appears as if Barnabas is “waxing poetical” (as JD said he would) about his beloved home’s architectural features. Either that, or he is remembering his lost Josette who somehow ended up in the sea, if one judges by the underwater photograph at that British film site. In the series, Josette leapt from the cliff known as Widows Hill, of course.

  3. These are some nice pictures, with intensity that hint at a darker or deeper story. They picked out the right shots.

I love the one with Depp touching the statue. Wonderment, confusion, even some innocence there, coming from a 200-year old guy. Veeerrry eeeenteresting.
