Dark Shadows Movie Behind the Scenes Pics Featuring Original Series Cast

It seems unlikely that any fan of Dark Shadows can help but be excited by the trio of images taken on the set of Tim Burton’s Dark Shadows which features Johnny Depp, made up as Barnabas Collins with original series cast members Jonathan Frid (who is to Barnabas as Sean Connery is to James Bond), David Selby (Quentin Collins), Lara Parker (Angelique) and Kathryn Leigh Scott (Maggie Evans). Plus we’ve got a bit of Alice Cooper in there as well. There is just some so incredibly cool about seeing Frid with Depp. Let’s hope that it means we’ll see them together on screen as well.

About Ed Gross

i cant wait until may 2012

  2. Yes! They make cameos! Imagine Johnny Depp welcoming Jonathan Frid and Co. to the party at Collinwood! Can’t wait. Thanks Ed for the fantastic coverage!!!!

  3. Look at Kathryn give Depp the butt squeeze on the 2nd photo :)

  4. As well all know, in the original series and the 1991 revival with Ben Cross, Barnabas Collins did not stand out like a sore thumb. I just don’t understand the ridiculous make up and Nosferatu finger nails. I guess I just don’t understand Depp or Burton, perhaps that is why I am not a fan of “their” films. Its great to see Jonathan Frid, Kathryn Leigh Scott, Lara Parker and David Selby. I guess the party at Collinwood in “1972” will feature Alice Cooper and a “disco ball”. Btw Jonny Lee Miller looks okay as Roger. I truly am a stickler for details, I just wish they stayed true to the original series. Why 1972? No Old House? No chained coffin in the mausoleum, ugh!!!!

  5. The film looks stylish. I’ll give Tim Burton that. But I expected that from him. However, if they made this as campy as the trailer description I read, I will not go see. My wife is going to go see it regardless because she has a thing for Johnny Depp. I’m probably going to wait to see what she says before I go see it. If I read in the reviews that it’s campy, I won’t go see it AT ALL.

I want and have been expecting a House of Dark Shadows or Night of Dark Shadows-style serious gothic horror film…

That’s what Dan Curtis and the legacy of the remaining cast deserves and any fan in a position to act in or direct a Dark Shadows movie should know that. Anyone who grew up with the show the way Depp and Burton proclaim to have, should know the original soap was never intentionally campy or cheesy.

The material deserves a serious treatment.

Anything less will be a travesty.
